Immobility can be bad for patients and hospitals
Although critical illness and injury require various degrees of bed rest or immobilization,14 immobility itself has been found to have negative complications on patient’s health.15
Potential complications of immobility include among others
- Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP)
- Pressure ulcers
- ICU acquired weakness
