A mattress system specifically designed to meet the needs of critically ill patients with or at risk of pulmonary and skin complications of immobility.
Continuous Lateral Rotation Therapy (CLRT)
CLRT has been demonstrated to be effective in reducing the incidence of nosocomial pneumonia along with a reduction in ventilator days and length of stay in the ICU and hospital.CLRT as delivered by Respistar uses Hill-Rom's patented method of rotation using sequential deflation of the mattress to provide passive but effective movement. This method of rotation offers significant advantages to both the patient and the caregiver. The sleep surface contains a separate area of cushions along the side of the mattress called Comfortguard™ which cradle the patient into the center of the bed ensuring they maintain correct positioning for maximum rotation.Therapy settings (including depth and rate of rotation) can be customised by the caregiver to meet the needs of the individual patient at any time.
Prone Positioning
The Respistar Therapy System can be safely used when treating patients with the prone position.
Percussion and Vibration therapies
A "Hands off" option to aid in the mobilisation of pulmonary secretions when hands on therapy is contraindicated.Therapy settings (including depth and rate of rotation) can be customised by the caregiver to meet the needs of the individual patient at any time.
Zoned Continuous Low Pressure Therapy
The Respistar Therapy System offers a unique double layer sleep surface which offers 5 separate zones in the upper layer in order to maximise pressure relief for the high risk patient. This unique design ensures pressure relief is maximised even during rotation therapy.
Turn Assist
At the touch of a button patients can be positioned on their side safely and gently for care procedures without the need for patient handling. This unique facility frees up skilled nursing time and reduces the risk associated with moving and handling these vulnerable patients.
Menu Driven Touch Screen Controls
All of the Respistar system's options are controlled by a simple-to-use control panel which also includes an interactive help facility.
Protex™ Cover
The Protex cover is fully enclosed and can be wiped down in between patients.
