Pressure Management
The Clinisert 2™ mattress incorporates a modular design that allows the caregiver the choice between two well-accepted pressure-reducing foams, High resilience and Visco Elastic. The High resilience foam insert has foam cubes, which compress independently to conform to the patient’s shape, maximising weight distribution resulting in lower pressures on vulnerable areas. The Visco-elastic insert is foam with a gel like feel, which is sensitive to body temperature. The foam will soften with body heat and recognise shape and pressure and will adjust to distribute weight evenly again providing low pressures and enhanced patient comfort.
Strikethrough proof cover design and cover material
Strikethrough is where degeneration (Hydrolysis) of the polyurethane membrane occurs under the influence of heat and moisture, causing failure of the water barrier properties. This is witnessed as cracking open of the membrane allowing ingress of fluids through the cover into the foam. The recognised causes of strikethrough are twofold, The design of most mattresses allows both sides to be used, lending itself to the above conditions, as the product is washed, left damp and turned onto a non breathable base. Secondly as bed occupancy increases, it is well recognised that the PU material currently used is not strong enough to withstand these conditions. Uniquely Hill-Rom has addressed both the recognised causes of strikethrough, first by introducing a new mattress design and with the introduction of the Lifesafe® Esprit HR cover on the Clinisert 2™ mattress.
Cost Effective
The modular design of the Clinisert 2™ mattress makes it a cost-effective mattress as both foam insert and mattress cover may be replaced separately increasing product life and effectiveness.
